The 1986 Hughes Amendment

In 1986 William J. Hughes of New Jersey introduced the Hughes Amendment to the 1986 Firearms Owner Protection Act as a hope to kill the bill that protected gun owners and FFL's from harassment from the BATFE. There is much question to the actual passage of it. If one watches the video of the voice vote, it is clear that Charlie Rangel fudged the vote, and even after the electronic vote was passed, it was STILL clear that the amendment passed, and is somehow still a law that is followed even today. I'll let you be the judge. Video is at the bottom.

L.A. gun buy back buys 15-30k STG-44 WWII Bringback for 200$

Original story here: It's quite sad really. was talking about this in one of their threads. It is sad that LAPD bought back a bunch of firearms "no questions asked". What's even worse that a piece of history will forever be lost to the civilian populace. Legal or not, I can't imagine whoever turned it in knew what they had. It's still upsetting to think about. The most that LAPD would pay for a single firearm was a 200$ gift card. We're getting to the point in the country where a state will become a police state. That is very depressing to think about. I may only be 22, but there are many Americans in our country who really don't realize that we are one of the last free nations in the world, and we want to turn in and destroy our civil rights and freedoms. It has become a tipping point in this country, and we are probably at about a 50/50 split within this country. There's really few firearms friendly states left. The federal government is consolidating its power into one branch and throwing states' rights by the wayside. A Defensive Carry user had a great quote as his signature, "Guns are like sex and air, not really a big deal until you can't get any". Makes sense, right? As with the STG-44 that is really a shame to even think about, thinking that a piece of history has forever been lost.

One Year Anniversary of Sandy Hook Shooting

One year ago, Adam Lanza killed his mother and took a Bushmaster XM-15 rifle to Sandy Hook and murdered 26 people including his own mother. I for one cannot even imagine what it may feel like to lose a child in that way. In fact I don't want to even try to level, because I don't know what that feels like. Christmas will never be the same for those families. The sad thing is though, is that many anti-gun politicians are attempting to use this as leverage for more stringent gun-legislation in Congress that will limit only law abiding gun owners. The President issued this video today: I will not doubt that the POTUS or the anti-gun caucus feels for these families, but I have no doubt that the pro-gun legislators feel the same way. That I think everyone can agree on. Maybe some really do legitimately believe that tougher gun control may work, but no matter what facts are presented or what logic is used, many politicians are using this as a platform to capitalize their agendas and progress their careers. "Never forget to take advantage of a good crisis". I do believe there is a problem with violence in this country. With so much freedom to take your life in any direction can sometimes be harmful. You can choose to be an acolholic, you can choose to not be a good father to your children, and you can choose to become a murderer. I am in no way saying we should take away our freedoms for the cost of safety. That is the price of freedom. Americans have fought for it, bled for it, and died for it. I hope the families of Newtown Connecticut find peace one day, and I know they are angry. Great sorrow can sometimes turn into anger, especially with the un-natural loss of a child. They have every right to be angry. What sickens me is that politicians use these tragedies to further a political campaign when these families should have their privacy respected, and not used as a prop in the fight to strengthen gun control. Political parties aside, I pray that the Newtown families are one day able to recover from their grief, but there will always be a child-sized hole in their life, and there's nothing that can bring their children back. God has a plan, we are not always sure what or why He does things in His plan, but it is His plan. We don't have to always like His plan, but either way it His plan. Moses and the Jews in Exodus certainly disagreed with God's plans numerous times. He punished them, especially Moses, but in the end he delivered His chosen people to the promised land of Israel. God Bless. -Andy

Nevada Nullification Petition

Here is a draft of a Nevada state nullification petition that I have drafted up to pass around to all your local gun stores to sign and send to your state legislature. Please reference the Nevada state legislature website to locate your assemblyman or senator to send the petitions to. Hopefully we will be able to get a bill into the legislature.

Cheers

Obama waives ban on sending weapons to countries that are known to endorse terrorist groups

Article <---  Link to original source
And yet we just narrowly defeated the Assault Weapons Ban domestically here in the U.S., yet the Executive Branch is using their authority to circumvent a Federal Law that is on the books, which is exactly why we have three branches of government, to create checks and balances. Why is this here on the blog? Well........ I'm seeking to bring to the readers' (all zero of you) attention some of the dangers that I see with doing this.
1. We have not learned our lesson of what happens when we back a certain militant Islamic group and supply them with weapons (Afghanistan in the 1980's against Russia funneling through Saudi Arabia). In the early part of the Afghanistan war, the primary source of weapons that the Talibs used against NATO forces were those acquired back in the 1980's. After the Mujahideen kicked the Russians out of their home country, these weapons simply did not get returned to Saudi Arabia or the U.S., they kept them and after used them to fight the Northern Alliance led by Massoud and instituted their own Sharia regime. Was it better than the Russian occupation? I am not going to start that debate.
2. Besides the no accountability and the tracking of weapons issue, we are giving the rebels what Dianne Feinstein considers true "Assault Rifles". My educated guess surplus M-16's and select-fire AK's/RPK's/PKM's purchased surplus outside the U.S. to funnel through another middle east country. That is we the American People learned the CIA was doing in Libya; it was a drop off point to ship out these weapons. I do think that's another contributing factor to why the Benghazi attack happened.
The most interesting thing I see out of all of this is the fact that President Obama just recently signed an executive order stopping the sale of Curio & Relic weapons by the federal government to collectors for personal collections citing that this is a way for criminals to acquire weapons by circumventing background checks and straw purchasers by them for prohibited purchasers, but yet our country will send fully automatic rifles to a rebel group in a heavily militant Islamic country with no guarantee of where these weapons will end up in say a decade from now. Here is the other illogical thing about banning government C&R weapon sales. For a weapon to be C&R eligible it has to meet certain requirements:
1. It must be 50 years or older OR
2. It must be on the approved C&R list, such as Soviet era SKS's, 9x18 Makarovs (CZ 82's) and more.
This is how many have acquired surplus M1 Garands or M1A carbines, but yet I can't recall mass shootings committed with these collector weapons. Coming down to it was just another power play by the Executive Branch trying to circumvent the 2nd Amendment again. While I will admit that there are full auto C&R weapons, the prices of these are in the 5 figure price range. A fully automatic Thompson SMG will go for anywhere from 13k-30k, and it still must have a tax stamp paid for and be registered just like any other full auto in the NFA registry. I think it is cheaper for a felon to grind down the sear on a 400$ AK built from a flat and have an inexpensive bullet hose. Criminals are not going to abide by the gun laws we already have on the books, so why are we restricting the sale of Curio and Relic weapons to individuals who already play by the rules? It is just another power play, and I find it very interesting that the Fed will support the overthrowing of another government in a civil war by supplying untraceable full auto weapons purchased with tax payer money, but yet they try extremely hard to regulate and restrict an American civilian's guaranteed Constitutional right to own a firearm. Since 1934 the Federal government has slowly been chipping away at our 2nd Amendment rights. Within less than 24 hours, President Obama has already started campaigning for more gun control in the wake of today's DC shooting, which I may add has some of the strictest gun control policies in the country, but yet that did not stop a mass shooting in a government building, which is standard to be a "Gun Free Zone"; it is sad that the anti-gunners are using tragedies to campaign for the systematic disarmament of the American people. Some readings are linked at the bottom to show you the reader how the Federal government has been restricting the 2nd Amendment since the 1934 National Firearms Act. God bless, and stay safe.

Franken AR Mosin shoot

I sincerely apologize about the typo in the title, but the wife and I went out today to go shooting. We brought some pistols, the Franken AR, and my Mosin 91/30. The Mosin is definitely the most fun to shoot.

Type 03 FFL and how to get one

The Type 03 FFL (Curio & Relic License) is another way to get back some of your abridged Second Amendment Rights. If you live in a people's republic state (California) then you may be out of luck on this one. This license allows for you to purchase firearms 50 years or older or on the approved C&R list and get them mailed right to your door. No background check, and no waiting. What you will need.
1. Check for 30$ Made out to the BATFE
2. Envelope
3. Stamp
4. Not be a prohibited purchaser
5. Chief Law Enforcement Officer's contact info.
The first thing one must do is download this form which can be found here Curio & Relic License Application, and print out two copies. One will go to your Sheriff, Chief of Police etc. Find out where the address to their licensing department and mail that copy. If you look at the bottom of the application, you will see there is an ATF copy, and a CLEO copy. Once you fill that out, put in the check for 30$ and mail it to the ATF. approximately 6 weeks letter, you should get your license in the mail. The first thing I did was scan it to a PDF format so I can send it to FFL's when I purchase online. Naturally I had to make my first purchase, which was a 1954.5 Chinese Type 53 Carbine (Mosin M44 Copy) Which I bought for 105$ on gunbroker. I think with shipping it came out to about 140$, and sure enough a week later, UPS dropped it off right on my front step. There are many good C&R weapons that one can use for home defense and would make great hunting/sniper rifles. When I snap some more pictures I will upload my 150$ Mosin 91/30 scout build.

Colorado Recalls Two State Legislators

I know that this is old news, but it does go to show the reaction of politicians who have lost touch with their respective jobs. When these two legislators rail-roaded the universal background check and magazine capacity laws through the Colorado State Legislature, they honestly did not think of the back blast that it would create from their constituents. This is the power of democracy in action. Both of them were recalled, and it is deeply troubling the reaction they both give when recalled through the democratic process. It is very clear that the ex-legislator did not believe that the people of Colorado had the right nor the power to take her job from her, and I would argue that this is a modern day of the "shot heard around the world". I do hope that the rest of the country takes a lesson from this and proceed to remove persons from office who do not represent their constituents. They are no better than us in status, and we sign their paychecks. For too long many legislators/governors etc believe that we serve them.
This is a testament to the power of the people exercising their right to remove a person from office who abuses their power. By all means they should not have been able to resist the passage of the laws in the first place due to backing from Mayor Bloomberg and his deep pockets. Video below.

Salutations

To all my fellow Nevadans; I created this blog to raise awareness to others of the fine line we as Americans have been walking in the last few years. Since the implementation of the National Firearms Act of 1934, our 2nd Amendment rights have been getting chipped at by the federal government for the better part of a hundred years.

A little about me: I was born/raised in the east bay area of California, and had grown up around a very anti-gun culture, surprisingly my father and mother were both very conservative (My Dad grew up in the 50's). At the age of 17 I joined the USMC as an 0341 infantry mortar man and did two deployments to Afghanistan. That being said, I am not a war hero, and never will claim to be. However, what I did see:
1. I did see a country with strict gun control laws. Did that stop the bad guys from owning them? No. Not on bit.
2. The Taliban still had full auto AK's, PKM's, Dishka's, RPG's, etc.
3. They used this tactic to terrorize the local villagers into giving them supplies, bed down site, etc.
4. The people were at the mercy of their government. So why do we have an ever growing anti gun sentiment in this country?
Fear.
Humanity has a natural fear of the unknown. History has proved this time and time again. That is why we have superstitions, ghost stories, supernatural beings, etc. It allows humanity to explain the unexplainable. Humans have to know how and why something always happen. When it comes to guns, since less and less Americans do not have or use guns on a regular basis, they naturally fear it and condemn it.
The second reason is the one that upsets me the most, the main stream media (MSM).
If one has read Animal Farm by George Orwell, the media is the entity that acts as the sheep to quiet any or all opposition. This does great damage to those who are on the fence about the 2nd Amendment, and presents a very slanted view of the world, as if all gun owners are devout religious nut jobs who have a bomb shelter in their basement (For the record with all the things that are going on in the world prepping does not seem that bad of an idea anymore). President Obama himself stated at the introduction of the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) to the senate, "Americans have to stop clinging to their guns and religion". To me that was a very arrogant statement to make, basically slapping all religious persons of any belief systems in their faces, and stating it was time to come into the 21st century. One may choose to be an atheist, that is fine, but President Obama cannot ignore the fact that this country was founded by Christian men with a Bill of Rights very closely following the Ten Commandments given by God to Moses on top of Mount Sinai. Many of our nation's laws are written using the Bible as a moral guide.
For my critics, I am not a Republic. I am not a Democrat. If I am anything, I am an Independent because partisanship is what has divided this country in the first place. One should read Washington's Farewell Address and see how we as a country are NOT following his guiding principles. This blog is not an Obama bashing site, I am hoping to educate readers of how we are slowly losing all of our civil rights to the Federal Government. I did not know much how the 2nd Amendment was chipped away at until I started actually doing my own research, and not taking it on faith from the media and what other people said. For the pro-2nd Amendment group: I encourage all of you to talk to your local gun store (LGS) owner about these various acts and laws, they are quite knowledgeable. If one person reads this blog and changes their mind, I will feel like I have accomplished something. If one wishes to become a contributing author, please send me a message. God Bless, and Semper Fi
